Meetings of the Staithes Harbour Board take place every two months.

- The Commissioners consist of 12 members: 4 appointed by NEIFCA, 1 by North Yorkshire Council, 1 by Hinderwell Parish Council, 4 elected Fishermen from Staithes, and 2 elected Fishermen from Runswick Bay.
- The quorum is 6 for financial matters and 5 for other matters.
- The Commissioners hold powers to levy rates, acquire property, dredge, and maintain safety of navigation within Staithes Harbour and Beck.
